The Dorian, Autograph Collection

Modern Day Wilde

Channeling the essence of the renowned writer Oscar Wilde, our work with The Dorian Autograph Collection acts as a whimsical tribute to the iconic writer. Focusing of course on Wilde’s famous novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, we sprinkled many hidden gems and metaphors throughout the art in the property. 

For this project, we were able to collaborate with our friends at CHIL Design to infuse our art in their beautiful interior plans. Their vision was guided by the concept of “Modern Day Wilde” which focuses on creating spaces that capture a sense of humor and wit. From layered patterns and textures to eclectic material and color choices, they wanted to infuse the late 1800s style with the sophistication of a boutique hotel of today. 

As guests explore The Dorian, there’s so much to discover! There are eye-catching mirrored moments in the lobby by Baldvin Ringsted Vignisson, showcased below. We also worked with Karen Lebrick to create a series of 14 custom watercolors that create a zoetrope of a couple dancing, as well as a beautiful piece seen below titled “Soiree” that invites guests to enjoy a drink in the lounge bar.

Each piece we curated and created perfectly fits within CHIL’s vision for the interiors, from a historic portrait of Oscar Wilde himself with a ripped canvas to lovely graphic illustrations that perfectly accent the floral wallpaper in the guest rooms.
