Now that the biggest fashion weeks across the globe have wrapped up, it’s time for the creative minds at KBAA to weigh in on what trends will walk off the runway and into your next design package.

For this latest trend report, we identified three major trends predicted for Spring/Summer 2022. We then asked members of our team to interpret those trends into artwork for a variety of spaces. What results is a hand-picked selection of artists whose work fits beautifully into the aesthetic of the moment.

Join us as we explore the palette, textures, and sensibilities of next season.

Big Florals

Bold, graphic florals are a huge trend for Spring/Summer 2022. This trend builds off the botanical trend we spotted in our Spring 2021 Trend Report, but with heightened drama. Elevated graphic florals, colorful patterns, and an emphasis on rich, saturated floral tones are heavily favored right now.

You’ll be trend-forward if you:

  • Use floral tones (particularly orchid and daffodil yellow)

  • Experiment with big flower patterns in rich, saturated colors

  • Subtly signal with gathered fabric and rosettes, or really lean into the look with an oversized bloom embellishment

Artist Pairings

Laura Hart

“I am so obsessed with this orchid-meets-neon concept! It is incredibly unique how the pieces marry luxury-floral with contemporary nods. Neon is everywhere right now, and Laura Hart’s work brings such an unexpected layer to something so delicate.” – KW

Megan Carty

“Megan Carty’s artwork features bold, whimsical, and painterly floral abstracts infused with vibrant, positive, and energetic colors. Her subject matter and use of color align with the forecasted design trends of Spring/Summer 2022.” – JT

Tiffanie Turner

“The detail in the color and texture of each flower Tiffanie creates is so intricate and interesting. They appear so light and soft that you just want to lay down in it! I could see this work sprawling across a wall onto a ceiling in a corner of a lobby or entryway.” – KP

Layers of Denim

Everyone loves a classic pair of jeans. This season, we’re seeing a kaleidoscope of different washes of jeans, with an emphasis on handmade, patchwork pieces. Connected to this trend is the current spotlight on street style which was featured prominently at fashion weeks across the globe.

You’ll be trend-forward if you:

  • Make texture front and center

  • Layer denim — using billowing fabric works well with this trend

  • Focus on detail, color tones, and volume

  • Juxtapose masculine cuts with feminine accessories or embellishments

Artist Pairings

Deniz Sagdic

“Deniz Sagdic’s unique and dimensional artwork features abstract portraits crafted from scrap denim and fabric pieces stitched and/or secured to wood panels. These custom pieces are large-scale, impactful and connect to the current layered, blue-tone and textural denim trend.” – JT

Ronen Azulay

“I think one of the most interesting aspects of Azulay’s art is the thought and inspiration behind them. It’s inspiring to think that his earlier career in men’s fashion was a catalyst for him creating artwork that challenges his audience to think about mass production and the endless cycle of waste. I love artwork that has a story to tell, and his work has a great one.” – EVO

Minimalist Luxury + Gold Accents

We saw this trend emerging last season, which got it a spot in our Fall/Winter 2021 Trend Report. Pendants, dripping gold, and metal ornamentation is still in. This season we’re seeing the glam off-set with elevated minimalism.

You’ll be trend-forward if you:

  • Embrace luxury without being ostentatious

  • Work with white or neutral palettes, using gold and/or black accents

  • Keep things minimalist with clean lines

  • Suspend your gold accents

Artist Pairings

Juliana Bernal

“I recently discovered Juliana Bernal’s artwork and I am now a full-on super fan. The delicate nature of her artwork, her subtle yet rich color palette, and her use of intricate layers is mesmerizing. I think her work would look incredible in a neutral room paired with a gorgeous, gold pendant lamp.” – EVO

Sabrina Balbuena

“I love how Balbuena uses minimalistic and modern geometrics with an art deco-inspired flair. Her simple layouts and use of color and texture align with the trends we are seeing that embrace a neutral color palette with metallic gold accents.” – JT

Ink and Indigo

“Emily Mann is such a versatile artist that it was hard to pick just one piece to go with the minimalist and gold accent trend. I chose this wall sculpture of hers because I love how the gold pops off the rich, matte black background. I can definitely see this as a focal point on a larger or curved wall in a reception area or lounge.” – IS
