After much anticipation, an exciting new property has opened on the Las Vegas Strip. In August 2021, globally-revered brand Resorts World became the first integrated resort to be built on the Strip in over a decade. Owned by Malaysian conglomerate Genting Group, who have the majority of their properties in Asia, Resorts World Las Vegas offers elegant, Chinese-inspired art and decor with a larger-than-life Vegas spirit.
Kevin Barry Art Advisory was honored to be selected to curate art across several areas of the resort. An exciting aspect of this project was the opportunity to work closely with artist Tracie Cheng, one of our favorite, long-time collaborators. Known for her ethereal paintings with overlays of precise lines, Cheng worked with us to transform original works of hers into giclées and wallcoverings.
In the Conrad Las Vegas’ guest rooms, Tracie Cheng’s work offers a beautiful, tranquil focal point for the guest. Placed in floating frames and enlarged to the size of a traditional headboard, the effect of the work is subtle yet commanding. All together, KBAA placed Cheng’s work in 1,496 guest rooms and suites at the Conrad Las Vegas. In addition to showcasing her work in guest rooms, Resorts World’s public spaces also include expansive wallcovering reproductions of Tracie Cheng’s work, weaving the narrative of her art throughout this vast property.
Apart from our work with Tracie Cheng, KBAA had the pleasure of working with artisans to make several custom, 9’ tall sculptures for the property. At the sprawling Famous Food Street Eats dining hall, a statue of a golden Lucky Cat commissioned by KBAA waves to diners. Elsewhere, a replica of the iconic Stardust neon sign pays homage to the classic Las Vegas property that once stood where Resorts World now sits.
