Luxury Hospitality Through a Curated Lens

Exploring how we curate collections to elevate the guest experience at every touchpoint.

Kevin Barry Art Advisory and luxury hospitality have always gone hand in hand. One of Kevin Barry’s earliest projects (advising The Beverly Hilton in 1984!) set the tone for a way of working that still defines us today. But what does it mean to create art programs for luxury spaces? What is the lens in which we view luxury hospitality projects? Here, we’ll explore our unique perspective that leads us to happy clients and award-winning design moments.

Sense of Place

Curating connected journeys for luxury guests

KBAA is known for creating a strong sense of place across all of our art programs, but we’re especially intentional about how this comes to life in hospitality environments. Travel is about more than just the destination, it’s about feeling connected to it, even in moments of rest at the hotel. At Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, this meant moving beyond expected wine references and instead expressing the spirit of the region through a more elevated, nuanced lens.

“The art story was focused on the history of the region, celebrating the people that live and once lived there, as well as the people that farm the rich viticulture of the region. Colors used throughout were pulled from the natural terracotta tones in the soil.”

Angela Harada, VP of Sales

Brand Expression

Amplifying brand legacy through intentional artistry

When working with luxury brands whose legacy already speaks for itself, our role becomes one of translation. With every project, we have deep conversations with our clients to understand the brand expression that is important to retain. For partners like St. Regis, where we work with properties across cities on a global scale, we always keep the ethos of “live exquisite” as a throughline in how we present the right artists for each space.

“Founded by John Jacob Astor, the St. Regis brand prides itself on the blending of heritage and glamour. Interpreting this within the artwork meant favoring traditional elements of luxury, such as pearlescent finishes, gilded frames, and elegant forms that are deeply connected to the brand ethos.”

Julia Stenderup, Art Director

Guest Experience

Art as a catalyst for moments of pause and pleasure

The final pillar in how we approach art programs in hospitality is a deep consideration of the guest experience. The brands we partner with understand how to anticipate and care for their guests, and our goal is to reflect that same sensibility through art. You see this come to life in our award-winning piece at Bernard’s Bar, a hidden speakeasy tucked within Waldorf Astoria Chicago. We commissioned artist Beth Kamhi to create a one-of-a-kind chain installation, designed to be tactile and experiential, inviting guests to engage through movement and touch.

“The vision for KBAA is to continue delivering ‘wow’ moments with cutting-edge work that pushes boundaries. Art can transform a space and make a difference in how people experience it.”

Allison Barry, President

Together, these pillars guide how we create luxury hospitality moments that are truly felt, not just seen. It’s about layering thoughtful details that turn a space into an experience. This is the lens we bring to every luxury hospitality project. See more of our hospitality work here.
