For the newest of James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr’s El Vez restaurant locations, KBAA worked with the design firm to marry the look of the W Hotel’s redesign with the Mexican cantina-vibes of the El Vez. Our hospitality art advisors reached out to artists who we felt were up to the task of bringing an eclectic, retro, beach-chic flair to this Florida property.

Stand-out pieces of the restaurant’s art collection include pieces by Dave Lavernia and Laura Stewart. Dave’s mural work inspired by Mexican sugar skulls, legendary artist Frida Kahlo, and the flora and fauna of the Yucatán can be found throughout the restaurant. Laura Stewart’s cerveza-themed art installation is a fun reminder to have fun and not take yourself too seriously, even when you’re enjoying a seriously delicious multi-course meal. Custom neon art prompting you for a drink order adds a playful touch to the bar area, and a customized old-fashioned photo booth gives guests the opportunity to not only make new memories but also capture them.
