Our recently completed, whiskey-inspired 60 x 19 foot ceiling mural at St. Regis Toronto’s luxurious LOUIX LOUIS cocktail bar spurred us to share one of our favorite classic whiskey cocktail recipes, the New York Sour. Bourbon, fresh lemon and fruity wine makes for the perfect combination of refreshingly sweet, sour, and boozy. This simple recipe, courtesy of Bon Appétit, will be sure to tickle the palate and impress your next at-home happy hour guests.
NEW YORK SOUR
Ingredients
(Makes 1 serving)
- 2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey
- 1-ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1-ounce simple syrup
- 1/2 ounce fruity red wine (such as Shiraz or Malbec)
Recipe Preparation
Combine 2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey, 1-ounce fresh lemon juice, and 1-ounce simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, cover, and shake until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Gently pour 1/2 ounce fruity red wine (such as Shiraz or Malbec) over the back of a spoon held just above the drink’s surface so wine floats on top.
Enjoy responsibly, cheers!
