Marriott International has been a long-time client of KBAA, and one of the things we value most about our partnership is a shared commitment to excellence. Across every property, from boutique hotels to expansive resort destinations, the emphasis is on considered design, refined materials, and art selected for its enduring impact. The JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa is a prime example of how Marriott consistently pushes beyond expectations, delivering an elevated experience that continues to delight its guests.
We were brought on as the renovation was well underway, with a clear vision to create a natural respite for Vegas-goers. The goal was to offer a sense of calm and escape as a thoughtful contrast to the energy of the Las Vegas Strip. This concept guided our art advisors as they developed a program rooted in local landscapes and desert motifs, interpreted through a refined and understated lens. The resulting collection spans guest rooms, suites, corridors, and public spaces throughout the resort.
Natural materials played a central role, including raw wood, stone, woven fibers, and organic metals. Each element echoes the rugged beauty of the surrounding environment while maintaining the sense of calm that defines the JW Marriott experience. Our KBAA graphics team collaborated closely with fabrication partners to bring custom concepts to life in ways that felt seamless with the interior design. In the Spa Tower Lobby, dusky hues reflect the shifting light and muted blues of the desert at dawn and dusk. A large stone giclée on raw canvas uses warm, mineral-inspired tones to reference the interaction of water with stone and sand. Behind the bar, a custom wallcovering presents an aerial view of Summerlin, capturing the meeting point between the built environment and the vast desert beyond.
The program also features work by a remarkable group of artists. “Moss and Stone” by Lucy Pike, featured on the cover of ELEVATE by KBAA, layers deep, moody tones with lighter, ethereal passages that recall the interplay of light and shadow across desert terrain. Alan Alldredge’s “In Silk” introduces shimmering, windswept textures inspired by wind-worn rock and sand in the Mojave Desert. Luca Brandi’s “A Rift in Time” draws from the linear, vertical formations found in Red Rock Canyon, offering a subtle sense of movement and depth.
While photography offers a glimpse, the true impact of this art program is best experienced in person. We encourage you to walk the halls, visit the restaurant, explore the conference areas, and take a moment with the artwork in your guest room the next time you find yourself at this remarkable resort and spa.
