Zoë Pawlak

My work stems from a persistent desire to uncover the truth; to find the center, or the soul of the story. Through expressive color and textural variation, I explore the passage from personal narrative to collective truth. The vessels and muses in each painting live in a reciprocal relationship with the pressures and energies that surround them; holding steady while retaining their inherent power. Themes of longing, sincerity, and stillness are through lines in all of my work. Before I pick up a brush, my work often begins with writing. It’s an intuitive process that’s rooted in rigorous, informal daily practice.
