After graduating from Parson’s School of Design in New York City, John Helton moved to Park City, Utah where he has been creating sculpture and fine art furniture for over 20 years. He is considered an important voice in Contemporary Art by collectors and curators. His work can be found in collections throughout the United States and has been featured in numerous publications. A prolific artist with a unique vision, Helton is also a designer, painter, and writer. Born in 1964, Helton displayed an ability to create beautiful works of art at a very early age. Helton’s father, also an artist, exposed him to museums and exhibitions in Manhattan, throughout his childhood.
His latest series of sculptures focuses on the graceful motion and interaction of paths of energy that naturally surround us. These paths exist on all levels including: the paths of water molecules during the evaporation process, the paths of magnetic forces from Pole to Pole, and even the paths that individuals travel through life. In this series, Helton enables others to participate in a visual representation of the unseen movements and hopefully evokes feeling the actual energy –as it flows around you.
