Born in Paris in 1981, Alphée Ballester lives and works between the hustle and bustle of Paris and the calm of the Cher. As the daughter of a lineage of female artists, she earned her master’s degree from the Penninghen School of Art.
In a world that moves too fast, Alphée reconnects with contemplation and reestablishes a place for daydreaming. She weaves subtle connections between human vulnerability and the fragility of nature, creating an internal climate map reflective of our Earth. Her emotions, whether daily or stirred by the tremors of current events come to life on the canvas.
In her universe, where mixed media dances with abstraction, Alphée reveals her inner weather. With care, she cuts or tears delicate handmade papers, transforming each piece into a narrative backdrop. The nervous gestures of oil blend with the textures of acrylic, while the pencil draws meditative patterns, and fabric bandages cover areas, adding a healing tenderness.
Her artistic vocabulary, where softness flirts with violence, juxtaposes geometric forms with free elements, revealing moods that are sometimes peaceful, often tumultuous, but always infused with a vital force that magnifies the beauty of the world.
Recently honored with the Albert Maignan Prize from the Taylor Foundation, she opened the doors to her first solo show in 2023. Her works have traveled to London, Japan, Paris, Belgium, and Switzerland as she establishes herself on the stages of international fairs.
