There were so many highlights worth revisiting, so we thought we\u2019d share some of our team\u2019s top Basel moments.<\/p>\n<p>And we promise, the headline is the last time we\u2019re going to mention the banana.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/kevinbarry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Snails_4.gif\" alt=\"large lobby sculpture art in the Kaiser Permanente Ontario, CA medical center\"><\/p>\n<h2>Highlight #1<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cThe art moment I\u2019m still thinking about from Miami Art Basel is the pair of mechanical snails by Urs Fischer. They\u2019re bigger than real snails but they move and trail a slime behind them that will make you do a double-take. Shout-out to the snail-minder who when I asked him why snails replied: \u2018Well, it made you stop and reflect for a while, didn\u2019t it?\u2019 Touch\u00e9, sir.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Jen White, VP of Marketing<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/kevinbarry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/david_bowie.jpg\" alt=\"large lobby sculpture art in the Kaiser Permanente Ontario, CA medical center\"><\/p>\n<h2>Highlight #2<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cFor me, the star of the show was the enormous David Bowie bust. I have always been a David Bowie fan, even since I was a kid and I first saw the movie \u201cLabyrinth\u201d. The scale of this piece was so large and the detail was incredible \u2014 you could even see sweat glands and pores in the sculpture. It seemed that at this year\u2019s Art Basel there was an overall trend towards hyperrealism, whether in paintings or sculpture. So large scale and detailed, you could even seen sweat glands and pores. It impressed me as a Bowie fan and a fan of incredible craftsmanship.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Angela Delaney, VP of Sales<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/kevinbarry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Havana-Party.jpg\" alt=\"large lobby sculpture art in the Kaiser Permanente Ontario, CA medical center\"><\/p>\n<h2>Highlight #3<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to pick an art favorite, so I\u2019ll just say that my favorite event of the week was the Cuban-themed party we threw with our friends at RH Contract. It was a blast getting to talk art and reconnect with colleagues from around the country over delicious mojitos. I get a kick of seeing everyone\u2019s photos from the evening across social media.
